Well, the way I see it, is TN didn't die as much as Z2 Live killed it. Before there was a big decline in players they stopped updating!
There are players spending money even now.

True Beemer.... even more, now that it's no longer downloadable from app store, we won't have anymore new players. It is time to move on and find the next thing. BTW... Welcome!

*sigh* Yea, if TN isn't cut in between this time, I plan to continue playing TN and collecting fame to about late August of this year because I have to go to college:(
There have been so many games that I've played in the past that were simply amazing: TN, RuneScape, Shattered Plans, Combat Arms, Ace Combat, etc. But now, every single one of these titles has declined so badly it hurts seeing where the games are now, esp. considering what they were like merely a few years ago. The way I see it TN fell due to unresponsive management, RS to EoC and Play2Win, Shattered Plans to nonexistant player base, CA to Play2Win and money, Ace Combat to Call of Duty-esque and complete change in story environment and abandoning the old plots. These games truly do come and go, but that still does not make it truly sad and depressing to see this games go to sht. As of now, I can only watch videos of what games used to be like and just feel nostalgic about the good old days.
When analyzing fame statistics between December 2013 and now, assuming that first place daily fame totals are associated with overall popularity of the game, the game began declining roughly after July 2014 (after boadecia collected a record-breaking 6745170 fame in a single day). Before this point, the average top finisher was roughly 5.7M fame/day. Now, we would be lucky to see first place break 5M. This is a clear indication of the decreasing fame base, that is the declining number of 200% Bonfires people are able to join daily.
I have sincerely enjoyed playing this game, even though I didn't spend a single penny on it. I want to finish this school year up as I'm currently a senior in high school and have the time to continue playing. I just reached Super Star status (kudos to MinPhoenix to directing me to this forum) only last month so I'll bath myself in fame collection for a little longer until I finally dry at the end of the summer. Come September, I'll most likely be joining the retired ranks of GipsyGirl, Bonesvil, Christalwest, jrdieter, Khaled123, etc., and many other of my friends who didn't necessarily collect a lot of fame but still supported my fledgling account until their mysterious retirements.
But for now, I'll continue playing:)

Hey Crocp7! TN was an absolute blast, for some, it still is! As for games in general, I don't think I have payed one for as long as TN. Granted, I was mostly absentee past two years, but I had spurts of creative moments where I went back and decorated 4-5 villages, went achievements crazy, and reconnected with some neighbors.... all that lead me here to ensure we still have place to chatter. Unlike you, I spent a lot of money (yikes!). It's okay, no regrets there. It was worth it. So let's all stayed tuned to see what will happen next.....

Hum.... I can add them back. Why not. Janet actually offered to manage them for me since I can't do it consistently.
@janet.... are you still up for it?
I assume they require self-trading, otherwise they will never have enough trades to generate enough tokens. My shops are hard to self-trade, they are squished up as part of the design.

Looking at the fame statistics another way, for this week (with 1 day to go) I am in 56th place. According to the party check-in box, I am at the 97th percentile. This means that the 55 "players" above me represent 3% of the population attending and/or hosting parties. This gives 1,833 "players" that are actively getting fame. And many of those 55 "players" above me are Janet and PBtown.
I can't think of a good way to estimate the number of active players total (i.e., those who are and are not accumulating fame), but I suspect most of the active players are also collecting fame.
Not a very large population.

Only two of my nations are in the top 100. They are 0short and 1sailaway. I am working to get my new baby, 012sailaway, there but it is at 199 currently. It used to be more than 100 players would be superstar. Now only approximately 32-33 players can be superstar because of how few players there are. I could never have been in the top 100 until about a year ago because so many players have left.

What is the criterion for being a Superstar? I have never been, but I also cannot seem to get above the 97th percentile.

Super Star means for a weekly rank, you placein the top 1% in the game. For seven days usu this amounts to being roughly top 30 by Sunday. Last week I accumulated over 4 million fame on Monday, ranked 13, and got into the 99% percentile. Typically, 98% for Monday is roughly over 2.3 million fame, by my own experience.

To be honest i never understood ( i don't even now do...) this fame thing... I placed this picnic thing and collect the fame from giving parties of it.. but what is the sence behind it?? I don't even have friends in TN but that's because i was to stupid to find out how to invite someone... and i'm from germany so it is harder for me to understand a few things there... i'm still playing and i would be happy about friend invites... but it also would be nice if someone could explain me some things... Greetings donauthalchiller Ps. I hope they won't quit the game ... they should let us play the game until we have enough of it... i never really came into it but i still love to play it... there is no other game like this... Oh and sorry for my bad englisch...

There is a ray, albeit dim, ray of hope for us old timers. Man, if they bring TN back I will once again be a slave to my iPad and loving every minute of it! I, too, was never a fan of the party circuit but would be turning flips for more levels, etc.

I read (with some amusement) that Activision has closed a deal to acquire King. The acquisition of Z2 by King did not seem to do much for the Z2 portfolio, and now they will be an even smaller part of a larger company. Most of the effort must be in "Paradise Bay" because they certainly are not putting any visible effort into Battle Nations or any of the other games they still (sort of) support. Needless to say, Trade Nations is not even in that category.
Currently I cannot really play Trade Nations on my iPhone 6s plus. I have serious doubts it will work properly on an iPad Pro, and if that is the way I go for my next iPad it may mean the end of my Trade Nations days.

Yeah. There just isn't a way around the incompatibility with newer devices. It really is too bad it can't be salvaged.
