At work today we did a ice-breaker activity before our meeting started and I really enjoyed it. We went around the table and shared something we recently did for the first time. I learned so much about the people around me and had a few good laughs. To think, a child has a new experience almost every day! As an adult, when was the last time you allowed yourself a new life experience? So share with us... When was the last time you did something for the first time?

I will start. I live in deer country, see deer families gather in my back yard, have baby deer, name them and watch them grow up. I have become fond of them (although they destroy my landscaping) ............... I also live next to a hunter. Not a good combination!! Well, we did something nice for our neighbors and they decided to return the favor by bring us some dinner. I was grateful (at first) until I learned that they had brought us home made venison chili. Yup, you guessed it, although it wasn't from my backyard, it was one of his recent hunting trip. I have never had venison before and decided to try it Well, if I had any doubts before about game meat, I know now for sure. I do not like it!

Most of my new experiences these days come from cooking - not terribly exciting! I made baked beans from scratch the other day for the first time. Your neighbour must be a terrible cook - I've made chili with venison before and kids couldn't tell. Mmmmmm - I love Bambi burgers.

My mother was a hunter and used to try to trick us by making meatloaf with venison. None of us liked it and she insisted that we couldn't tell the different from beef or deer. I told her that the deer carcass hanging from the garage rafters was a dead give-away!
I love the thread idea and I did something new this week...
I volunteered to be a chaperone for my granddaughter's Spanish field trip. Haven't ridden on a school bus since I was a kid. (Did the seats get smaller or did my bum get bigger?) We went to a huge authentic Mexican grocery store and the kids we tasked with finding different items and taking pics of the cultural differences from the grocery stores they have been to. The manager gave us a tour and we all got to taste a lot of different foods. What was great about this store is that the walls of each section were decorated to look like a different city in Mexico. They had gorgeous wall reliefs, statues and paintings. The whole store was so well thought out (unlike the common grocery stores around here) even down to the different colored floor tiles that were spaced just so that kids could step on each of them.
i think I liked the Mexican coffee the best. Oh and the pastries too!!

Tomorrow I will do something for the first time. Lots of people are flying in for my father in laws funeral. I am playing taxi and will have to make at least 4 separate pickups from the airport. I've never played taxi before except for my own children.

Hi everyone! So nice to see you all here! Thanks again Annie On Saturday I'll be attending my grandmother's funeral to be followed by a grand family reunion on Sunday. I wonder how'd the feeling be? From sorrow to joy! I feel a little excited because it is my first time to join my grandfather's side reunion. This was due to being out of the country for 25 years. I feel weird at the same time????
