This is a nice idea Tamara - I'll play. Lynn, from Ottawa, Ontario. Devoted big dog lover, currently mom to most spoiled yellow lab in existence (who is currently spread across hubby's side of the bed, snoring). Unemployed, and reinventing myself, which is why I spend way too much damned time online. My TN village is Frogmommy15 but it's nothing special - I don't play anymore. Greatest achievements: my three amazing daughters, happily married for 24 years, and I'm two months into an attempt to quit smoking after 34 years as a dedicated smoker (still struggling )

Hi Tamara, how nice of to start this thread! I have Janedoe007 as a neighbor. She is pretty cool.
I'm Annie, in US-NJ and I have way too many villages to mention. But the two active one now are MinPhoenix and Aaron94t, which is my hubby's abandoned town. The inspiration for the design is the Great Wall of China. It was my first, if not second ever design. Something about me... hum. Well, I love animals too. I volunteered my my time to cat shelters, fostered cats in my home, sat in a pet store every weekend trying to find cats new homes. It was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I miss it and my do it again but I'm afraid my husband may divorce me.

Lynn! Wow, 2 months in.... That is AMAZING. If you can do two months, I know you can do it forever. For me, it was the first 1-2 months that was the most strenuous. I had no choice, I was getting very ill because of it. I did it and it is possible.
That there is a book out there that takes an different approach to stop smoking and millions said it undeniably works. It's called "Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking" Some say they couldn't wait until they got to the last chapter because by that time, they are an ex-smoker.
My dad passed away last year to lung cancer. It was by far the most frightening experience our family has ever gone through. I watched how cigarettes took his life and I am still bursting with anger.
I wish you all the strength and know that you will be successful.

Hi everyone! I'm Amie and live in Eastern Canada I have two children, and the love of my life Midnight, my 3yr old black lab/hound mix I'm currently doing a little dog sitting, and taking care of an older gentleman. I too quit smoking 3yrs ago by going to a hypnotist! I really don't think I was hypnotized though as it was in a huge room with lots of people and sitting on the hardest chairs imaginable for over an hour, so the only thing I could think about was how much my behind hurt! But I did quit! The only thing I remember is the guy saying "Not a one" and somehow that stuck with me. To just concentrate on not having the first one sort of simplified things. Good luck Lynn, you can do it! Just remember, "Not a one!"

Amie and Annie - thanks for the words of support. Oddly enough, I didn't quit for my health or for financial reasons (both of which I have unsuccessfully used as motivators before). This time, I finally "hit bottom" and decided I was tired of being a slave to the addiction (I've chosen to miss out on opportunities simply because I wouldn't be able to smoke, including a trip to Washington DC with my daughter's squadron, all expenses paid). I guess I had to literally finally admit I was powerless in the face of my addiction. I wasn't even able to completely quit when I was pregnant, although my OB put me on rations. I will live with that shame forever.

Hi! My name is Lee and I live in the Los Angeles, CA area (Pomona to be precise). I am an engineer, working on satellites. I have only one TN village, Pigaro. My wife also plays TN as figgycat. We have a bunch of cats and a little yappy dog. I told her no little yappy dogs, but....
Our TN village names are actually in honor of the same cat. My wife brought home this white cat with a gray spot on his head that she named "Figaro." After watching him eat, I thought that "Pigaro" was more appropriate. Alas, that cat has long departed but his memory lives on in our user names.
We have 5 children, and they have 5 grandchildren (with one more on the way). We both still play TN, but each play other games as well (no others in common).

Tamara, I love this idea. I am Patricia from Austin, Texas. Pbtown was my first village 4 years ago. It is the initials of my first and last name. My active towns are 000ponr, 012sailaway, 0mero, 0noBarbaraSouix, 0short, 1morebean, 1sailaway, Aldarin, Aquahhh, Arcadia8, CarmenBizet, Frolfpastor, Pbtown, Pbtowntx, Ponr2, Senoresfrijoles, , and Zzz_tilianara. I am a retired special education teacher. I have 2 adult daughters and 1 granddaughter who is 7 years old. I love cats but out last cat died 3 years ago. I have been working on my husband to let me get another since then and he has finally consented. We will get one in about 2 weeks since I will be visiting one of my daughters next week. My hobbies are gardening and playing Trade Nations. I do volunteer work for my church. I do water aerobics for exercise.

Lee, I have to be honest - based on the name Pigaro I was secretly hoping there was a penguin in your story.

It remind me of Disney's Figaro character. But not a cat, a pig... Sorry that was a stretch, my mind is mush from work, I think I better pour myself a glass of Pigaro.

Oh, Ireland! Janet I want to visit Ireland so badly! My Grampa Elliott was born in Belfast and my Grampa Graham's family immigrated to Canada from Cork (they were originally from somewhere in Scotland but somehow managed to get themselves kicked out). So are you preparing for St. Patrick's Day or is that something only North Amercian's celebrate while reminiscing about the home country?

I saw another one pop up today in TN! tisk-tisk I love knowing where everyone is from.

Cool thread! I love gettin to know people although a few in here might call me more of a stalker. Im LaDonna from the Bay Area in California. Im retired-was District Manager for California Workers Compensation for 35 years. I love animals and have 1 yappy Chow Min Pin named Pico, 2 naked cats (Sphinx) Magic & Nudie and a Lykoi (wolf cat) named Fenris. Err, I think I might qualify for crazy cat lady eh? Im also a hobby artist with an art studio next to my bedroom. Commuting to work is about 15 feet. I used to teach art to children but now I just putter around in there. I need inspiration as I'm in an "artist block" atm.
